Wangari Kagai

Wangari Kagai is an Advocates of the High Court of Kenya serving as the Head of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) Directorate at the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) where she leads a team of dedicated lawyers committed to advancing justice through strategic litigation and advocacy. Every day, Wangari and her team are on hand to tackle major access to justice and legal challenges to promote systemic change, uphold the rule of law, and protect human rights of citizens in Kenya. Wangari also serves as the Secretary of the Public Interest Litigation, Legal Aid, and Human Rights Committee as well as the In-House Counsels Committee.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Moi University, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law and Master of Law (LL.M.) in International Finance Law and Regulations from Strathmore Law School.
Wangari serves as a board member of Dada Digital, an organization dedicated to empowering women from marginalized communities. She also serves as a member of the Rule of Law Committee of the East African Law Society (EALS) and is a member of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ). She co-founded the Constitutional Law Practitioners Forum and served as the Class President for the class of 2022 at Strathmore Law School. She is the founder of Kagai Pecuniary and Public Interest Consultancy which is a women-led consultancy is committed to the rule of law, access to justice, and human rights programs, providing expertise in both public finance and corporate finance. She is passionate about leveraging her expertise to drive meaningful change and justice.
